Artist Introduction
HSU YungHsu rececived an MFA degree of the Graduate Institute of Applied Arts at the Tainan National University of the Arts. He demonstrates great determination and perseverance with ceramic art, and is always seeking to transcend life’s intrinsic limitations. Hsu breaks free from the conventional limitations of clay in regards to weight and size, and creates unique ceramic works that are grand in scale and thin in size, as the immense forms are balanced against a delicate lightness. Hsu YungHsu won the first prize for the Japan International Ceramics Competition in 2008, and is the third non-Japanese recipient of this distinguished award and the first Taiwanese. He has exhibited in the USA, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, and other countries.
